IMSAS: IMO audits Nigeria successfully in June 2016

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) successfully conducted the audit of Nigeria in June 2016, under the IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) that is designed by the IMO to assess the degree to which Member States are meeting their obligations and responsibilities as Flag, Port and Coastal States under the relevant IMO instruments. In December 2013, the IMO Assembly made the Member State Audit Scheme mandatory as a major step towards attaining a more effective global implementation of its conventions.
